THE END
Our 2009 season ended this weekend with a in the first round of Conference Tournament against number 2 ranked College of the Ozarks. They simply outplayed us and wanted the game more than we did. Once again we were given all the tools to play a good smart game but when it came down to it, Ozarks just simply out played us. At least we lost to the team that went on to win it all. The very next day they swept a clean three games right out from under Bellevue University.
We had a lot of ups and downs this season. Although the season did not turn out how we all woud have liked we can still take a lot of experiences away from this year. There is a lot that we can biuld on and having such a young team would help. Before the next season we will work twice as hard to fix all the key factors that held us back this year.
We appreciate all the support the fans have given us throughout the season. Thank you for always being there to cheer us on and keep our hopes up. It is because of family, friends, and loyal fans that we were able to keep our eyes on the future and just keep plugging away at the season.
Thanks again for everything!!!

FINAL HOURS
This weekend we finished up our conference and regular season games against Haskell Indian Nation and Central Christian. Friday night we took on Haskell in what started out to be a a clean sweep. We took the first two games from them, but as usual we got to comfortable and Haskell snuck up behind us and stole the 3rd and 4th games. Luckly once the 5th game rolled around we had all decided that this was enough and we just need to finish it. With our high energy we swept the 5th game and called it a night. Senior Cara apparently had something to prove she ended the night with a season high of 26 kills.
Saturday after some much needed rest after the Haskell game we had a double header against the Central Christian Tigers. Before the first game we took a few moments to honor our parents, fans and all other supporters. Your flames took care of business the first match and swept all three games from under the Tigers. After a brief intermission, our Senior Cara stood alone on the court as a few words from Junior Krysta we said about her. Krysta gave a heartfelt and funny speech that touched the hearts of many and even made a few laugh. It was obvious that the whole gym knew and felt the Cara would be missed. In the second match of the day against the Tigers, we still swept them in three games but it wasn’t nearly as pretty as the first match. Two out of the three games we had to come from behind.
Now that our season is coming down to an end there are mixed emotions on the team, some sadness some joy and some excitement. Tournament play starts this Friday at 6 pm against College of the Ozarks at Bellevue University. Now it comes down to one game, from here on out every game determines the fate of your team. It’s all or nothing, kill or be killed, WIN OR GO HOME!!!!
I would like to give an extra special thanks to all of our fans that have supported us through all the good times and especially through the bad ones. You are all great and we couldn’t have done as much as we did this season without your support.
THANKS GUYS!!!
Love your 2009 FLAMES!!!!

Bellevue
Hey CSM Fans
This past Wednesday the Flames took on conference opponent Bellevue University - currently ranked number 1 and undefeated in the MCAC conference. We had been working on scouting the Bruins and practicing hard for the match - but like many other games this season, the Flames did not come out ready to play. Bellevue outplayed us - holding our team to just a .049 hitting average and sweeping the match 25-14, 25-15, 25-11. It was a difficult loss to swallow, especially since we had all the tools in front of us to play a good match against Bellevue, but it's tough to win when only some of our players have the motivation and discipline. Hopefully we can come together as a team to finish out our regular season on a winning note when we take on Haskell and Central Christian this weekend.
We hope to see you fans at our matches this weekend! We face Haskell Indian Nations at home on Friday at 7pm...and we have a double header at home vs. Central Christian on Saturday at 2pm and 4pm. Saturday is also the day where we will honor our lone senior Cara, as well as have a special thank you for our parents. We hope you all can make it!!!

What's up Flames Fans? We hope you had a great Halloween weekend!!
While most were out Trick or Treating....the Flames were down in Bartlesville, Oklahoma taking on Oklahoma Wesleyan. We were coming off a tough loss to conference foe College of the Ozarks, and we definitely wanted to take out our frustration. The Flames did just that by sweeping Oklahoma Wesleyan in 3 games - 25-14, 25-22, 25-23 to make our record 6-4 in the conference. It was a great win for us, as the previous time we played Oklahoma Wesleyan at home they took a game away from us. We executed our game plan, and although it became close at the end, the Flames pulled out the W. A 3 win sweep was definitely needed for us to boost our confidence and prepare for our next conference match against the undefeated in conference team, Bellevue University. We've been preparing for over a month for this upcoming match, so be sure to come out to Bellevue on Wendesday, November 4th at 7pm to support your Flames!
We look forward to seeing you, and thanks for the continued support!!

One Step Forward... Two Steps Back
Hey Fans,
Last night we took on College of the Ozarks hoping for a revenge game but fell quite short of the goals that we had set in place. Now that it is getting down to the wire we cannot afford to be playing the way we have been the last few games. After the game some players admitted to feeling like they weren't mentally prepared they just felt like they were on the court not doing anything. Which is exactly how we were playing. Right from the beginning our serve receive wasn't there. That may have been the most aces that we have given up all season in a single game. Once our serve received picked up thats when our hitters went sour. You would think it wouldn't be that hard to find the court, but nothing seemed to be going our way.
Today we take on Oklahoma Wesleyan and hopefully we are all more mentally prepared. They are going to come out looking for revenge since we beat them last time. We are all playing the game we LOVE we just have to start proving it to others and really show them what we are worth.
Thanks FANS!!!!

Briar Cliff
Hello.
Well unfortunately we had a tough loss yesterday against Briar Cliff. They ended up sweeping us in three. We had a very nice highlight though, our senior Cara shook Briar Cliff up int the first set, when she nailed a girl in the face with a ball going about 45 mph. It was insane. Everyone cheered for her and got excited off of her fabulous kill. Loosing sucks, but it makes you stronger. We'll learn from our mistakes and are ready to take on College of the Ozarks and Oklahoma Weselyan this weekend. These both are revenge matches, and were excitied to bring the heat and bring home a "W". (:

PERU!!
FLAMERS,
If you did not make it out to our game Friday night, you sure missed out. We had quite the battle with a conference contender Peru State Bobcats. The games battled back and fourth. Peru took the first game but not without a fight we came back and stole the second and fourth game. With our fans at the edge of their seats we took Peru to game five. At first we had all the momentum and just needed one point to finish them off. Peru wouldnt give up though they battled back to take the lead from us. We all dug deep and pushed through the game and ended up on top with the final score being 19-17.
It feels good to be on a winning streak and now that we all know what that feels like. We are hoping to grow more accustomed to that feeling.
We will keep you updated. Thanks for all your support.

Mount Marty
FLAMES.....
Well we went into our game Wednesday evening thinking that Mount Marty would just give us the game. They have had difficulties in the past with a record of 4-21 but that is not how they came out to play against us. They were hungry to win while we just sat back and played a little to relaxed. It was a big wake up call when they took the first game from us in a long battle ending in 30-32.
We finally woke up a bit and took they second and third sets but just barely. Once we got a good comfortable lead we let up a little too much and always seem to let our opponents back into the game. As a result of our lack of pushing Mount Marty came back and stole the fourth game from under us. Luckly we came out with our long lost internal flame and took charge of game five from the start. The final score of 15-5 reflects how we should have been playing the whole match.
Its a shame we take so long to figure these things out.
Thanks for all you support fans!!!

College of the Ozarks and Oklahoma Wesleyan
What up Flames?!
This last friday the Flames took on College of the Ozarks. This was a team that we needed to beat in order to come out in the top two of our conference. Unfortunatly, COFO came out on top beating us is a 0-3 sweep.
Saturday was a different story. Flames took on Oklahoma Wesleyan and easily sent them back to the bus. OKWU is a very up and down team, just as we are, so we knew we could not take them lightly. They earned a few points and even took the third set from us, but in the end we calmed down and knew we had the tool to dominate them. That is exaclty what we did winning 3-1. Evening out the weekend to a W-L.
Next, the Flames are on the road to South Dakota to take on Mount Mary. Check in later this week to see who takes this win. Hopefully, you will being seeing alot more "W" on our record. :)
Untill next time,

Flames vs Dordt
Hey all you Flaming Fans!!!!
Last night the Flames took on Dordt. We came out fired up and ready to go. We took the first set from them easily 25-18. However, we lost our momentum and mental states and ended up falling short them in four sets. We did manage to make a few comebacks, but it wasn't enough to pull through and finish on top. Dordt was a good team, but it was still a game that we could have won. We just need to keep the momentum when we have it, and we will come out on top!!
This weekend, we have two very tough conference games agains College of the Ozarks on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Oklahoma Wesleyn University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. We look foward to everyone coming and supporting the Flames!!!!

Haskell Indian Nations
Hello again Flames fans!
This past weekend the Flames traveled down to Lawrence, Kansas to take on Haskell Indian Nations. The Flames were coming off a disappointing loss to Bellevue and were ready to gain a conference win. However, we came out flat in the beginning and never really gained the momentum. Although all 4 sets were close battles, the Flames came out on top in the final set. Although we knew we didn't play our best, we were pleased to finally get in the double digits in the "W" category. We're looking to gain even more knowledge from our match, and continue to push to improve.
This week the Flames host 3 strong teams, including two conference opponents. On Tuesday, October 12 we'll take on Dordt college at home @ 7pm. Friday, October 16, College of the Ozarks will match up agains the Flames at 7pm, also at home. And Satuday, at 1pm, the Flames will be playing Oklahoma Weslyan. We're looking for 3 more "W's" so come out and support us!!!

Bellevue
Hello Flames Fans!
We hope you're staying warm. Just wanted to update you on our match against Bellevue this past Tuesday, October 6th. The Flames were celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness month and all decked out in PINK! Look for us to be wearing more pink throughout the rest of the month of October. We were EXTREMELY pumped to be playing Bellevue our arch rival in our home gym. We got pumped before the game and went out ready to play! Bellevue thought they could just walk all over us, but they were wrong! The Flames ended up taking a very emotional first game from the Bruins, winning 25-23. But we knew the Bruins wouldn't let us go away with a win that easy, and they came out strong in the 2nd and 3rd sets. The Flames weren't ready to give up just yet. Although we played a very strong 4th set, the Bruins ended up winning 25-15 to win the match.
After the game we talked about all the positive things that came out of the match. We now know what to expect the next time we meet up with Bellevue, and how after an emotionally rough weekend we came out strong and ready to battle. We came together in a tough situation and showed everyone that we aren't ready to give up yet! Bellevue better be ready next time they meet up with the Flames!
We want to give a very special thank you to our crowd on Tuesday night - YOU GUYS ROCKED! We love and appreciate all your support. Keep it up :) Hope to see you again at our next home match on October 13, vs. Dordt at 7pm! Wish us luck as we venture down to Lawrence, KS to take on Haskell on Friday, October 9th!
PEACE!!!

Hey Flame Fans!
On Saturday we played York for the 2nd time. We won in 3 straight matches which, we haven't been able to do since September 11th. We were all excited knowing that if we play as a team we can do it. We came from behind in the 3rd match to win it very close with a 25-23 score. We have started to come together as a team and play our level of volleyball not the other team levels. We have more confidence and trust in our teammates. We did way better then we have in any other match with coverage. We stayed in the Green light for all 3 sets going to the yellow light a few times, but managed to stay in the green which lead us to a Win. We play this Tuesday at home against Bellevue at 7:00 p.m
Please come support your flames !
GO FLAMES!!! :)

THANKS TO ALL THE FANS WHO CAME TO SUPPORT US ON SATURDAY!!!

Hey Flame Fans,
We finally got some wins this weekend, which was a long time coming. Playing at York was a good experience. They had an extremely loud and rowdy crowd. It was a big step for us to block out that noise and simply just play ball. It was a fun atmosphere to play in and we hope we get more chances to play in that type of noise. Buena Vista was the complete opposite. They had a much quieter gym so we had to find it in ourselves to create the noise. It was a close four games but we ended up on top. Now that we have the taste of victory fresh in our minds we hope to build off that even more. The season is not over yet and there is still plenty of room for improvement.
As the great Napoleon once said, “Victory belongs to the most persevering!”
Come support us tomorrow night as we take on Briar Cliff at home!!!
Thanks for everything!!!!

*~Hola Flame Fanatics~*
The last week didn’t go as we had originally planned. We had to admit defeat to opponents that didn’t deserve it. As a team we are finding out the hard way that people won’t just hand us the game, we have to earn it for ourselves. After a late night and a long and rigorous practice our internal fire is burning and we are all itching for a WIN!!! Only York and Buena Vista stand in our way this weekend and we are not going down without a fight. Although they have home court advantage we plan to go in with our torches raised and leave scorch marks when we are done. Our fire is not yet out, we have refueled it and are hoping to prove this weekend that we are burning as bright as ever.
Come check us out at York at 7:00pm Friday night!!
Thanks for all the support,
Your CSM Flames

Although they have home court advantage we plan to go in with our torches raised and leave scorch marks when we are done. Our fire is not yet out, we have refueled it and are hoping to prove this weekend that we are burning as bright as ever.
Come check us out at York at 7:00pm Friday night!!
Thanks for all the support,

Work in Progress
Hey Flame Chasers,
This past weekend we ventured out to Hastings, NE for another tournament weekend. Like most of our games so far this weekend acted as a good learning experience for coaches and players alike. We are beginning to come together more as a team and are starting to demonstrate the raw talents that we all have been given. Although we only came out 2-2 this weekend we showed promising efforts to our fans. We can only hope with a little more time in the gym and a great deal of heart and confidence we will turn our season around and start playing like the stars we know we are!!!!
Thanks for all of your support. It is greatly appreciated.

Hey Flamer Fans
We started our first home game off with a victory! We played a local omaha team, brining a good crowd. Grace University gave us our run for our money, that we werent prepared for. Our first set. We came out flat and not ready to play our game. Loosing the first set was not good and we knew we had to pick it up from there. Doing so we dominated the next three sets not letting up our game. We learned as a team to not slope to lower levels and keep playing our fast past games. It was nice to finish the game not letting down and pushing all the way to 25.
Thanks for all the Support!

CSM CLASSIC
Hey Fans,
This weekend the Flames hosted the CSM Holiday Inn Classic. We first defeated Concordia in a grueling 5 sets. It was a great comeback and overall win for the team. We had our second chance to beat them and we took advantage and came out on top.
Second we met Morningside. We lost to them in 3 very close sets. We managed to stick with them, but just couldn't quite pull out the win.
Next, we played Hastings College. We managed to take a set from them, but again fell short, losing in 4 intense sets. We stuck with them as well, and definitely put up a good fight, but we just couldn't quite keep that edge and come out with the win.
Finally, we went face to face with Northwestern. We unfortunately lost to them in 3 sets, but the same as with Morningside and Hastings, we did give them a good match and competed very hard.
Overall, the weekend went well. We may not have come out with all wins, but we grew a lot as a team and learned a lot about each other as well as ourselves as individuals. We played 4 very good teams and we competed with each and every one of them. If we can keep up this level of play, we will be very successful in our games to come.
Thanks for all the support!!!!!!!! Keep it up. We really appreciate it!

OCU Tournament Day 2
Hey Fans!
Day #2 at the OCU tournament went pretty well for the flames. After taking awhile to wake up and play, Wiley took a game from the flames in the morning. After this game we regrouped, refocused and checked out of our hotel. After a quick lunch the Flames were headed back to the gym to take on Huston! And that we did! In a quick three game set, the Flames dominated Huston taking their record to 2-3!
Overall, it was a great weekend in Oklahoma. We learned some more things about eachother and new things that we can improve on.
Tomorrow we take on the Bulldogs of Concordia University at 7:00 in Seward, NE.

Oklahoma City Classic
Hey all you Flaming Fans!
We had a good day of competition in Oklahoma. We played OCU for our first match of the day. We lost in three sets, but we fought hard in all of them. The flames are still learning to play together as a team and we see improvement in every match we play. We have a great bunch of girls who love to play volleyball so it should not take us long to find our groove and learn how to play with eachother like the great team we all know we are going to be!
In our second match we played Lyons. We beat them in a grueling four sets. We won the first two sets. And even thought we fought hard, we couldn't pull off the third set of the game. The fourth set we came out with some of that flaming energy we all love and put Lyons away.
It was a hard day, but we all learned a lot about playing with eachother. We are looking forward to playing the next two games tomorrow in Oklahoma, and hopefully adding two more wins onto our record!!
We'll keep you posted! GO FLAMES!!

Dana College 8/25
Hello CSM Flames Fans!!!
First of all, thank you to all who came out to Blair, NE last night to watch your very own Flames face Dana College. The whole team very much appreciates all of your support and enthusiasm!!
Being the first match of the season the Flames were as excited as ever. Working very hard during three a days for two weeks we were all more than ready to play a game rather than practice.
Between the adrenaline rushes and all the nerves the Flames won the first set of the match 25-21, we did a lot of great things, and some amazing kills and awesome serves. Becoming a little to comfortable with ourselves the next sets went: 25-27, 16-25, 25-19 ending up going into a fifth set. Even though everyone worked their hardest and wanted the win really bad, Dana still pulled threw to win the game, defeating the Flames 11-15.
After a long morning practice this morning, the Flames know what they need to do to improve for their next match. A lot more hard work, trust, and drive is going to help us do great this weekend where we adventure to Oklahoma City, OK for the Oklahoma City Classic. This tournament will be a perfect time to show others how hard we've worked so far and what we have learned from our first match!!!
Thank you again to those of you who made the trip!! Check back soon to see how the Flames are doing!!

NEW BEGINNINGS!!!
WELCOME TO A NEW YEAR CSM FANS!!! The 2009 volleyball team is underway with a new and exciting season!!!
This year we have 6 new incoming players: Jr. transfer from Wayne State Erin Dostal, Jr. transfer from Concordia College Kristen Czapla, and freshmen Ashley Kulwicki, Cortney Czapla, Jessie Clark, and Jess Zimmerman - to join our returning players: Sr. Cara Fleischman, Jrs. Sam Sandiland and Krysta Peers, and Sophs. Stacie Cornwell, Dani Cote, Kirsten Placzek, and Kristen Weigum.
We also have two new coaches on staff: assistant coach Tati and student assistant coachs Kristen and Emilie.
Pre-season started August 10th and the girls were ready to play! We've practiced new things, showed incoming players old routines, and much much more. We've had fun with coming together during swim workouts and even the dreaded mile at 7am ;)
On Monday, August 17th the team headed out to the middle of a cornfield in Omaha to participate in a ropes course put on by Boys Town. The girls and the coaches learned many team oriented lessons - ones that we will take into every practice and game. The girls had fun, got scraped up, fought off the ants, and even learned new ways to play elbow tag - but most of all LAUGHED!!! It was a great team bonding experience. Look for pictures soon!!
Check back soon! Keep the Flames in your thoughts as we finish out our pre-season...and we look forward to seeing you at our first game! Come make the trip out to Dana College to support your flames as they take on the Vikings on their home court...August 25th at 7pm!! Hope to see you there :)
