One Step Forward... Two Steps Back

Hey Fans,

Last night we took on College of the Ozarks hoping for a revenge game but fell quite short of the goals that we had set in place. Now that it is getting down to the wire we cannot afford to be playing the way we have been the last few games. After the game some players admitted to feeling like they weren't mentally prepared they just felt like they were on the court not doing anything. Which is exactly how we were playing. Right from the beginning our serve receive wasn't there. That may have been the most aces that we have given up all season in a single game. Once our serve received picked up thats when our hitters went sour. You would think it wouldn't be that hard to find the court, but nothing seemed to be going our way.

Today we take on Oklahoma Wesleyan and hopefully we are all more mentally prepared. They are going to come out looking for revenge since we beat them last time. We are all playing the game we LOVE we just have to start proving it to others and really show them what we are worth.

Thanks FANS!!!!

Briar Cliff

Hello.
Well unfortunately we had a tough loss yesterday against Briar Cliff. They ended up sweeping us in three. We had a very nice highlight though, our senior Cara shook Briar Cliff up int the first set, when she nailed a girl in the face with a ball going about 45 mph. It was insane. Everyone cheered for her and got excited off of her fabulous kill. Loosing sucks, but it makes you stronger. We'll learn from our mistakes and are ready to take on College of the Ozarks and Oklahoma Weselyan this weekend. These both are revenge matches, and were excitied to bring the heat and bring home a "W". (:

PERU!!

FLAMERS,

If you did not make it out to our game Friday night, you sure missed out. We had quite the battle with a conference contender Peru State Bobcats. The games battled back and fourth. Peru took the first game but not without a fight we came back and stole the second and fourth game. With our fans at the edge of their seats we took Peru to game five. At first we had all the momentum and just needed one point to finish them off. Peru wouldnt give up though they battled back to take the lead from us. We all dug deep and pushed through the game and ended up on top with the final score being 19-17.

It feels good to be on a winning streak and now that we all know what that feels like. We are hoping to grow more accustomed to that feeling.

We will keep you updated. Thanks for all your support.

Mount Marty

FLAMES.....

Well we went into our game Wednesday evening thinking that Mount Marty would just give us the game. They have had difficulties in the past with a record of 4-21 but that is not how they came out to play against us. They were hungry to win while we just sat back and played a little to relaxed. It was a big wake up call when they took the first game from us in a long battle ending in 30-32.

We finally woke up a bit and took they second and third sets but just barely. Once we got a good comfortable lead we let up a little too much and always seem to let our opponents back into the game. As a result of our lack of pushing Mount Marty came back and stole the fourth game from under us. Luckly we came out with our long lost internal flame and took charge of game five from the start. The final score of 15-5 reflects how we should have been playing the whole match.

Its a shame we take so long to figure these things out.

Thanks for all you support fans!!!

College of the Ozarks and Oklahoma Wesleyan

What up Flames?!

This last friday the Flames took on College of the Ozarks. This was a team that we needed to beat in order to come out in the top two of our conference. Unfortunatly, COFO came out on top beating us is a 0-3 sweep.

Saturday was a different story. Flames took on Oklahoma Wesleyan and easily sent them back to the bus. OKWU is a very up and down team, just as we are, so we knew we could not take them lightly. They earned a few points and even took the third set from us, but in the end we calmed down and knew we had the tool to dominate them. That is exaclty what we did winning 3-1. Evening out the weekend to a W-L.

Next, the Flames are on the road to South Dakota to take on Mount Mary. Check in later this week to see who takes this win. Hopefully, you will being seeing alot more "W" on our record. :)

Untill next time,

FLAMES!!!

Flames vs Dordt

Hey all you Flaming Fans!!!!

Last night the Flames took on Dordt. We came out fired up and ready to go. We took the first set from them easily 25-18. However, we lost our momentum and mental states and ended up falling short them in four sets. We did manage to make a few comebacks, but it wasn't enough to pull through and finish on top. Dordt was a good team, but it was still a game that we could have won. We just need to keep the momentum when we have it, and we will come out on top!!

This weekend, we have two very tough conference games agains College of the Ozarks on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Oklahoma Wesleyn University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. We look foward to everyone coming and supporting the Flames!!!!

Haskell Indian Nations

Hello again Flames fans!

This past weekend the Flames traveled down to Lawrence, Kansas to take on Haskell Indian Nations. The Flames were coming off a disappointing loss to Bellevue and were ready to gain a conference win. However, we came out flat in the beginning and never really gained the momentum. Although all 4 sets were close battles, the Flames came out on top in the final set. Although we knew we didn't play our best, we were pleased to finally get in the double digits in the "W" category. We're looking to gain even more knowledge from our match, and continue to push to improve.

This week the Flames host 3 strong teams, including two conference opponents. On Tuesday, October 12 we'll take on Dordt college at home @ 7pm. Friday, October 16, College of the Ozarks will match up agains the Flames at 7pm, also at home. And Satuday, at 1pm, the Flames will be playing Oklahoma Weslyan. We're looking for 3 more "W's" so come out and support us!!!

Go Flames!!

Bellevue

Hello Flames Fans!
We hope you're staying warm. Just wanted to update you on our match against Bellevue this past Tuesday, October 6th. The Flames were celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness month and all decked out in PINK! Look for us to be wearing more pink throughout the rest of the month of October. We were EXTREMELY pumped to be playing Bellevue our arch rival in our home gym. We got pumped before the game and went out ready to play! Bellevue thought they could just walk all over us, but they were wrong! The Flames ended up taking a very emotional first game from the Bruins, winning 25-23. But we knew the Bruins wouldn't let us go away with a win that easy, and they came out strong in the 2nd and 3rd sets. The Flames weren't ready to give up just yet. Although we played a very strong 4th set, the Bruins ended up winning 25-15 to win the match.
After the game we talked about all the positive things that came out of the match. We now know what to expect the next time we meet up with Bellevue, and how after an emotionally rough weekend we came out strong and ready to battle. We came together in a tough situation and showed everyone that we aren't ready to give up yet! Bellevue better be ready next time they meet up with the Flames!

We want to give a very special thank you to our crowd on Tuesday night - YOU GUYS ROCKED! We love and appreciate all your support. Keep it up :) Hope to see you again at our next home match on October 13, vs. Dordt at 7pm! Wish us luck as we venture down to Lawrence, KS to take on Haskell on Friday, October 9th!

PEACE!!!

Hey Flame Fans!

On Saturday we played York for the 2nd time. We won in 3 straight matches which, we haven't been able to do since September 11th. We were all excited knowing that if we play as a team we can do it. We came from behind in the 3rd match to win it very close with a 25-23 score. We have started to come together as a team and play our level of volleyball not the other team levels. We have more confidence and trust in our teammates. We did way better then we have in any other match with coverage. We stayed in the Green light for all 3 sets going to the yellow light a few times, but managed to stay in the green which lead us to a Win. We play this Tuesday at home against Bellevue at 7:00 p.m

Please come support your flames !

GO FLAMES!!! :)
P.S.

THANKS TO ALL THE FANS WHO CAME TO SUPPORT US ON SATURDAY!!!
